Wasted helps you think twice before impulse buying by showing you how many hours of work it takes to afford an item. Simply enter the price of something you're considering buying, and we'll calculate the real cost in terms of your working time.
We take your hourly wage and apply estimated tax rates for your country (income tax and national insurance/social contributions) to calculate your real take-home pay. The hours shown represent how long you'd need to work to actually afford the item after taxes.
Note: This is a simplified estimate and may not reflect your actual tax situation.
You can enable notifications that remind you to check Wasted before impulse buying when you open shopping apps.
To get a notification for each individual app, select specific apps rather than entire categories when setting up alerts.
You can update your hourly wage at any time in Settings. If you don't know your hourly wage, use the salary calculator to convert your annual salary.
To start fresh, use the "Reset App" button at the bottom of Settings. This will clear your hourly wage and return you to the welcome screen.
